10.21.22 ➤ T H E ✕ EVENT

 

Collection X marks the threshold at which past and future collide; the catalyst for a new chapter defined by our experience in a single moment. On either side of that moment exist creation and destruction, the erratic and beautiful pillars that compel the movement of time and the progression from order to disorder.

On the evening of 10.21.21, a bevy of Chicago’s creatures of the night crossed paths at the crux of the hourglass as we playfully traversed THE ORDER’s timeline. Through a series of phases set to honor past, present and future, the dissolution of one narrative into another became increasingly apparent.

 

PAST

SEE OR BE SEEN Upon entry, guests were invited to explore the commissioned, collaborative work of 10 uniquely talented artists, all of whom have influenced my work significantly. Details here >>

PRESENT

CAPTURE OR BE CAPTURED Corporeal shadows flickered in the soft light, garments transforming from one to the next just beyond the almost-opaque curtain behind the set. As the bulb blinded and flashed, models emerged to be captured by camera sorceress Kirsten Miccoli as she worked her magic for THE ORDER once again. This was a unique way to showcase the new collection on actual bodies, while still upholding our ‘fuck the runway’ mantra. Following the shoot, the space became a photographic playground for guests’ own exploration.


FUTURE

PLAY OR BE PLAYED Inspired by the origins of the Surrealist parlour game ‘Exquisite Corpse, feathered quills and metallic inks placed adjacent to the bar beckoned guests to scrawl across worn and well-loved novel pages. Rogue adjectives, adverbs and nouns became currency to exchange for cocktails, simultaneously assembling into new narratives both sensical and non-.
