We are surrounded, permeated, besieged. Our senses, both physical and emotional, are driven by a state of perpetual indulgence as the very things we covet become simultaneously obsolete. We toss aside what we don’t need anymore, loving unconditionally until we don’t anymore, simply because we’ve been tempted by an upgrade to the newer, better, shinier, faster.
Collection VI is THE ORDER’s conceptual echo for this insatiable chase and how quickly objects of lust become passé, and a nod to our society’s growing expectation of instant gratification. We no longer enjoy anticipation because we want it now and know we can have it even faster. The collection is a visual synonym for the most saccharine of candy; the caloric morsels of delight that satisfy only our most carnal instincts and none of our bodies or consciences. In the moment, they’re delectable, delicious, orgasmic…and when controlled, can be quite rewarding. But, more often than not we overdose, leading only to guilt and disposal. We desire, we indulge, we discern, we regret. Rinse, repeat.
Perfect bows, stripes and expertly finished edges physically provoke our senses and lure us in; sparkly morsels of delight whose tempting presentation is precisely that which we discard once we’ve consumed them.
